Matt's pic

Matt comes to CBOQ as an innovative visionary with a committed passion for the local church. He has a deep desire to see youth ministries more effectively engaging young people with the message of Jesus Christ and empowering them so that they might become all that God first created them to be.

Matt began his youth ministry as intern at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church and then at Bayview Glen Alliance Church before becoming the full-time youth pastor at Spring Garden Baptist Church. Matt has most recently served as the Cross Regional Youth Pastor and Youth Ministry Specialist for The Meeting House in Oakville and its various regional sites throughout Ontario. Under his leadership he pioneered its youth ministry initiatives that have seen significant growth.

Matt has contributed to the world of youth ministry at both local and national levels. He is currently serving as a member of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s Youth and Young Adult Ministry National Roundtable as well as the Cadence Leadership Team (developing emerging leaders). He has recently been appointed as the Canadian Director for LEAD222 (a national coaching/mentoring movement) and is the Co-Director of the annual Today’s Teens Conference (a youth and youth workers conference).

For many years, Matt has been very involved in Christian camping and in Ontario Pioneer Camp’s Leaders In Training Program where he has been instrumental in connecting unchurched youth to local youth ministries.

He is a sought after communicator for student retreats and youth conferences and has been a regular contributor at the Youth Specialties Conferences in Canada.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University.  He has furthered his educational endeavours through studies at Tyndale University College and Seminary as well as the Arrow Leadership program which will allow him to move forward to complete a Masters in Arts degree focused on Leadership and Evangelism.

His wife Charity, a gifted school teacher, welcomes this new appointment for Matt and is most supportive of this new youth ministry commitment. They are expecting their first child in June which will be one more new adventure for them together!! Their home is in Burlington where they live with their golden retriever, Roxy.
